During my life I have done much moorland walking, especially on Dartmoor, which is why I wished to buy a staff rather than a stick although my intention on this occasion was to use it in an urban environment which is why I wished to have a non metal ferrule. I have not been disappointed! The staff is robust although not heavy, aesthetically pleasing (call me Gandalf) and encourages personal confidence in my increased stability! I purchased the second staff on behalf of a long term friend who like me is of ‘certain years but too likes to keep active and he is as pleased as I am. During the purchase I ‘phoned the helpline on a point of clarification and spoke to someone who was most helpful. I would certainly shop again esp if you were to add a blackthorn staff with a combi ferrule!

I bought this stick for my own personal use but I am very disappointed with this item , it’s incredibly thin not what I was expecting at all only used once and decided to give it to my grandchild it’s not substantial enough for me and I’m not a heavy build of a man at all , I’d have sent it back but wasn’t worth paying for it to be returned. So I would not recommend this item for anyone for hiking it is not substantial enough I was expecting something twice as thick , very poor do not buy …..

This is just what I was looking for! I have retired now and plan to go on multi-day hikes. The staff feels strong, is of a good thickness that sits smoothly in my hand, through the leather strap and is also light, perfect! The way this staff has been made and finished speaks of attention to detail and craftsmanship, I'm very pleased with the value considering all of the above too!

Go back to a simple steel end.
Or supply without ferrule as an option.

This arrived the next day and has been wonderful. Sturdy and comfortable, much nicer to use for dog walks than a cane, it doesn't feel as obvious. Very happy to recommend the hiking staff and the Hazel Wood is a lovely colour.

This is my first walking staff, have been using it for about a week now for dog walks and am very pleased with it. Lighter than I thought and the grip is very good, it doesn't slide through your hand. Feel that I am walking more upright and steadier. Very happy with my purchase.

A good quality walking stick, I am 23 stone and use it at my fishing club to help me get in and out of the most difficult swims.

The walking stick is in good order but it's a little to heavy for me. Maybe I should have mentioned that I am in my seventies and a lighter one would have suited me much better. Anyways,I will give it to a younger friend as a present once this plague has receded from the country.
