The Painting's History
Whistlejacket was one of the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham's favourite stallions. In 1762, Stubbs painted the famous 'Whistlejacket' for the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham, who was not only Whistlejacket's owner but also one of Stubbs' patrons. The masterpiece was then bought by the National Gallery in 1997 with support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Plastic Petite Handle
The Whistlejacket Walking Stick has been designed with a plastic petite handle, which is a smaller variation of the Derby handle for those with smaller hands. This right-angled handle has an elegantly curved design that matches well with the stick's aesthetic.
