Flexyfoot Anatomical Soft Grip Handle Closed Cuff Crutch

If you've suffered a lower limb injury, crutches can be an invaluable aid to your recovery, bearing your weight and allowing you to maintain mobility as your injuries heal. However, standard crutch ferrules (the cap at the bottom of the crutch) are prone to transmitting the shock generated when they make contact with the floor, causing pain and discomfort in the upper limbs. Coming fitted with the Flexyfoot ferrule, the Flexyfoot Anatomical Soft Grip Handle Closed Cuff Crutch has been developed to provide a solution to these problems.

Equipped with a specially-designed anatomical handle, this product is designed to significantly alleviate the pain and discomfort that is associated with extended periods of crutch use. The support also helps you walk on rough terrain safely as the Flexyfoot ferrule significantly improves grip.

Key Information

  • Height: Adjustable from 75cm to 105cm (29.5 to 41")
  • Shaft Colour: Matte Black
  • Shaft Material: Aluminium/Fibreglass
  • Ferrule Style: Flexyfoot
  • Weight: 600g
  • Maximum User Weight: 150kg (23.6 stone)

Shock Absorption

Traditional ferrules (the caps on the bottom of crutches) do not absorb the shock which is generated every time the crutch touches the ground, which then travels through the hand and arm, leading to fatigue and discomfort. The Flexyfoot ferrule's uniquely designed bellows absorb shock, which in turn can help relieve this pain.

This shock absorption is ideal for people that are suffering from elbow and shoulder pain as a result of using crutches or other walking aids. The Flexyfoot features two parts: a collar and a pleated bellows. The bellows act like a spring to absorb shock, meaning less is transferred to your body compared to traditional rubber ferrules.

Are the Cuffs Hinged?

Yes, the cuffs are hinged. As they can be adjusted, they are more comfortable for you.

Perfect for Rough Terrain

Because the bellows make the ferrule flexible, the Flexyfoot will stay in contact with the ground even over rough terrain, helping to provide greater grip. This can help make you feel more comfortable and secure and allow you to be more active when wearing your crutches.

Ergonomic Design

The Flexyfoot Anatomical Soft Grip Handle Closed Cuff Crutch is built for comfort. Its anatomical grip handle is moulded to the shape of hand, providing maximum comfort by distributing pressure through a larger area. Its closed cuff is designed to keep the crutch connected to the arm, allowing for more freedom of the hands, while clip height adjustment allows an exact fit to be obtained. What's more, the Closed Cuff Crutch even includes front and rear reflectors for maximum safety in darker environments.

How Tall Is the Anatomical Soft Grip Handle Cuff?

The Anatomical Soft Grip Handle Cuff measures from 75cm to 105cm from the ferrule at the bottom up to the top of the handle. As the height can be adjusted, this helps to ensure that you can use the crutch as comfortably as possible.

Please note that these crutches are supplied as singles and come in specific left and right hand versions; please select the appropriate version for you from the drop-down menu above.

Best crutch I've used
Friday, 20 September 2019  |

I have used standard crutches for over 15 years. This crutch has made walking so much more comfortable on my wrist and upper body. The flexi foot makes walking up and down steps and on uneven ground far easier with less pressure on the arm joints. The soft handle is very comfortable to grip.

Excellent crutches for active users
Sunday, 28 July 2019  |

I'm really pleased with these crutches. They look very nice with a matte black finish and sleek design. They're lightweight yet strong and sturdy. The cuffs are tight making it easy to lift the crutch from the ground on your wrist when using your hands for something else. They are silent to use with no annoying clicks that you get with some cheaper crutches. There is a very good range of adjustment, suitable for even the tallest of users. Very short users may need to check they are suitable.

The 'flexyfoot' was a revelation. It gives me great confidence when out and about, particularly in wet conditions or on rough terrain. They really do grip the ground much better than traditional crutches. My only slight complaint is with the soft-grip handle. The sticky soft rubber makes the crutches much easier to rest against surfaces without them slipping down. The soft handle is also very comfortable and grippy to hold, even when hands are a bit sweaty etc.

However, for me, they "gave" too much under my weight (I'm an amputee and so put all my weight through my crutches, not just using them for light support) which reduced the effectiveness of the anatomical shape. I've found that for long journeys they are less comfortable and give me more hand / wrist pain than my NHS issue hard plastic anatomical grip crutches. I think for people not bearing down with their whole body weight though, they will be perfect. There is a hard anatomical grip handle available which might be better for those in my situation. I've used them now for two hard active weeks (along country paths and up castles) and am very pleased with them over all.

Excellent quality

The first thing about these crutches is the weight, they are much heavier than normal ones, and because of this they feel far more robust.

They are easy to adjust to one's requirements, but I found you need to get used to them, I initially just used them around the house until I felt confident.

Best crutch ever
Sunday, 23 September 2018  |

I use a crutch daily and these are the best crutches I've ever had. First you don't get that awful clunk every time you put the crutch on the floor when walking. The handle fits so well into your hand it's like wearing a glove, the design is stylish too and I've had many compliments as well. I'd definitely recommend this product
