A traditional British walking stick, the knobstick is made from coppiced hardwood. The original tree is cutback, and the resultant shoots form the raw material for walking sticks.
The ‘knob’ handle is formed from the parent tree, so that the walking stick is in effect grown upside down. A good knobstick fits comfortably into the palm of the hand.
Coppiced Chestnut Wood
The staff is grown from coppiced chestnut wood, which is an interesting technique for producing gorgeously crafted, unique walking sticks. A these sticks are made from one, naturally grown piece of wood, they are much more durable and resilient than ordinary canes.
