Traditional Hiking Staff
A traditional hiking staff is taller than an ordinary cane, fitted with a ferrule that provides a safe grip on soft and muddy surfaces and, most often, a practical wrist loop that helps you out if you ever drop your stick. The very traditional Ash Hiking Stick is not only durable and visually appealing, but extremely lightweight as well. This means that you can easily carry it with you wherever you go.
Made from Coppiced Ash Wood
The Ash Hiking Staff is produced using the coppicing method, meaning that it's formed from the shoot that grows when the upper part of a young ash tree is removed. All of the sticks are grown in the woodland of the manufacturer in Somerset, England.
The heartwood of the White Ash has a light to medium brown colour, while the sapwood can be very wide and tends to be a beige or light brown. This type of wood has a medium to coarse texture, similar to oak, and the grain is almost always straight and regular.
This Hiking Staff features a combi ferrule, which means that there is a rubber ferrule fitted over a spiked one. This way, the staff can safely be used on both hard and soft surfaces, making it ideal for diverse hiking terrain.
